The soil is rocky and yellow, therefore so are the houses and buildings.

Inside of Symphony Hall. You can drop a pin on the stage and it can be heard from anywhere you are in the hall.

Symphony Hall

This is a beautiful symphony hall built in 1989, so it is very modern.

Monarch Beach

They brought in sand and set up a beach in the center of town since they are soooo far from the ocean. They have a DJ, beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.

Copthorne Hotel

This is the front view of the hotel I stayed in while in Birmingham.

Canal

View of the canal
This is one of the long boats. Birmingham has
more Canals than Venice, Italy. The canals
were used to transport "goods" to the ocean
for shipping. Birmingham is where the
Industrial Revolution started. Our District
had two events on the long boats. One was
a meet and greet with snacks and the other
was a brunh. We travel the canels for about
two hours.

View up or down New Street - At the end of the street is the rail station. I walked from the Hotel to the "station" which was about five minutes and jumped on the rail to the NEC.

Rotary Campout

Each year our Rotary Club has a fun weekend of fellowship in the way of a campout. This year the campout was held as Melowest, the ranc of the Ed McGrew family. We also enjoyed a ride on the Campo Train that took us to the International Tunnel.

Annual Rotary BBQ Fundraiser

Each year the El Centro Rotary club has a fundraiser BBQ. It is our main fundraiser for the year. The meal consists of bbq tri-tip, beans, cole slaw and a roll. Everything is prepared by club members. Everything is "drive thru". The assembly line fixes the meals and the Inter-Act members deliver the meals to the cars as they drive through.

Helping at the Pancake Breakfast

The El Centro Rotary Club support our Chamber of Commerce and joins with other service clubs to help at the annual Snowbird Pancake Breakfast.

Rotary Service

I am a member of the El Centro Rotary Club. Rotary is a service club and dedicates time to four areas of service: Community Service, Club Service, International Service and Vocational Service. We recently did work at the Humane Society, painting and repairing.

Anza Borrego Desert State Park

On Tuesday, March 17, 2009 (St. Patrick's Day) my friend (glider ride) Sharon and I took a day trip to the Anza Borrego State park to take pictures of the wild flowers. Our day started with the purchase of sub sandwiches for lunch (which we ate at Vallecitos Stage park). We found various Cacti, wild flowers and Ocotillo's. The weather was beautiful, and you could smell the Lupin (tall blue flower) everytime we stopped the car to take pictures.
